Growth Archives

im a young black male. im only 27 and im starting to thin. i always said ill cut it off instead of having a bald spot but i want my hair!!:( help!

The only thing I could suggest is experimenting with Rogaine. Perhaps it will slow down the thinning process. I believe it is hereditary. But as an African American male, you can also consider shaving it off. Bald is sexy :)

My hair used to be really long when I was younger, but now it never seems to grow below shoulder length? Have you found any successful hair growth techniques apart from those hair plait extension things which I don’t want to wear? Ta

Over the past year, I have created a routine for my hair that has made my hair grow about 3 and a half inches and has made it really healthy. I learned about all this by going on hair care message boards like http://forum.blackhairmedia.com/forum_to…
For most african type hair, it is usually imperative that you moisturize daily–I use a combination of care free curl activator gel(yes you can use that without having a jheri curl), and 911 leave in conditioner followed by a little olive oil to seal in the moisture. I do this everyday and at least each week I shampoo and condition my hair. Its best to use shampoos especially for dry hair because african type hair has a natrually tight curl pattern that makes it dryer than hair of people from other races. You should also use a deep conditioner after shampooing instead of or in addition to an instant conditioner. A good one is Organic Root Stimulator’s olive oil replenishing pak. A conditioner that has protein in it also is a good idea.
Lastly, once a week I use Shapley’s M-T-G oil on my hair–it is a hair growth aid.
Other than that, its a good idea to stay away from too much heat from hairdryers, curling irons and things like that…if you do have to use those things, make sure you moisturize and oil your hair afterwards.
also, dont manipulate or brush your hair more too much…that can break off fragile ends and make them split.
You should go to the link I gave you to learn more. The women on that forum are very knowledgeable.

My sister is trying to grow her hair out. She’s tried Dr. Miracle and Doo Grow and Baby don’t be Bald and some others I can’t remember, it showed little results after 5-7 months of use. So is there any other good hair growth products that she can use that can show some results?

Hair Care for African American Women
It`s a fact that healthy hair has faster growth, vibrancy and resilience. But how do you achieve healthy hair?
Start With Proper Nutrition
This is probably the single most important factor to having healthy hair. Just like any part of the body, the hair needs certain nutrients in certain amounts to be healthy. The problem is that the average person`s diet doesn`t supply all of these nutrients in the proper amounts. There are many ways to increase your vitamin intake – eat dark vegetables, nuts, whole grains and pure oils. Or try a hair vitamin. Look for products with essential oils like vitamins E and A, flax seed and borage oils. Be sure your hair vitamin also includes significant amounts of B6, B12, Niacin, Biotin, pantothenic acid and folic acid – the elements found in healthy hair. Be sure any products you use inside or outside are formulated for relaxed or chemically treated hair.
Be Sure Your Hair Is Properly Moisturized
Dry hair is unhealthy and can lead to problems like split ends. Some people are lucky enough not to have dry hair naturally, but they are in the minority. Look for products that contain jojoba oil. Adding Jojoba Oil to your skin cream can help improve skin tone. It is a natural emollient, making the skin softer, cleaner, and all around healthier. These properties make it ideal for use on the scalp to clear away build-up that can inhibit healthy hair growth. In addition to helping relieve dry, itchy, and flaky scalp, jojoba oil can also nourish and condition hair follicles, thus preventing or repairing damaged hair.
Keep Your Scalp Clean
Having a clean scalp is essential to healthy hair growth. Over time sebum can build up in the hair follicles which will stunt the growth of the hair and cause a “thinning” look. It`s important to clean the scalp thoroughly to prevent this. Look for products that contain de-ionized water, emu oil )which acts as a super moisturizer that infuses dry, brittle hair with vibrant shine), Shou Wu extract, silk protein, calcium, vitamin E, vitamin B12, vitamin B6, vitamin B2, folic acid, collagen and citric acid. These nutrients promote healthy, fast growing hair and are reported to work together to simultaneously soften and strengthen hair. Again, be sure your product is formulated for not only relaxed, color treated, and braided hair, but for natural hair as well.
Avoid Harsh Chemicals
Unfortunately, chemical treatments like relaxers, curly perms, and coloring can cause damage to the hair. Relaxers can be particularly damaging because they work by bringing down the bonds that hold the hair together resulting in breakage. Use products that contain natural ingredients. These ingredients should be the first listed in an ingredient list on your product label.

Would I Suit Black Hair? (picture Given)?

I have purple hair at the moment.
My natural colour is brunette.
Would i suit black hair?
&& how long will it last
+
with the re-growth, will it show badly and look poor?http://s460.photobucket.com/albums/qq321…

I think black hair would suit you.
The time it lasts and how badly it shows depends on the coloration.
The questions aside, I don’t see why you would want to change your hair color. You look great already.

Hair Care and Modelling

In the commercial world of fashion and glamour, when a modeling agency chooses a female model for modeling, it judges all the traits the female should have to be a successful model. Skin and Hair needless to say, play the most important part in a modeling career.

Care of body parts to be a female model is a must, and hair and skin care is the number one aspect of being beautiful. You may have different skin texture, height, body type all will fit. Free flowing lustrous hair and healthy skin is an important part of a women’s beauty and even a slight loss of hair or loss of natural color and texture can mean an end to a successful modeling career. If you take care of your hair and skin you have a the world of modeling open for you-runway and teen modeling, mature and commercial modeling; swimsuit and bikini modeling, editorial and showroom modeling; television and promotional modeling, plus size and fitness modeling; even child modeling.

Hair Growth Tips Black Women?

my wife and i wanted to know if there are special home remedies for growing afro hair i know it sounds different but we wanna know the secrets or remedies from breakage

It not a secret.
Your hair needs two things for it to grow healthy: Adding Moisture, and scalp message.
Buy a hair dressing, hair oil, hair creme that contains natural herbs, vitamins and minerals. ( I use African Pride or Doo Gro Thickening Lotion)
Using the balls of your fingers message your scalp. This helps the blood to circulate which stimulates the hair follicles which promotes hair growth.
THE FUN PART IS SHE CAN DO YOU, AND YOU CAN DO HER.
Limit your use of heated hair appliances. They make the hair dry and brittle and eventually break off.
Do not use products that contain alcohol, petroleum jelly, beeswax and perfume. The alcohol & perfume dries out the hair. The petroleum jelly, and beeswax, attracts dirt, hard to wash out, makes the hair really greasy, and limp and also it is very thick.
Comb out your hair with a extra wide tooth comb and never use a brush. Brushes are really bad for your hair. They stretch the hair and the hair breaks off.
Wrap up your hair at night. Never go to bed without wearing a silk or satin scarf. The reason silk or satin is this material does not absorbs the natural oils from our hair. The reason why to cover your hair is to stop tangles and breakage.
Never use rubber bands in your hair. The rubber band causes the hair to get tangled up which cause breakage. Rubber also dries out the hair.
Shampoo your hair every 10-12 days. The reason why is over shampooing causes women and men of color to loose the natural oils from our hair. We do not need to shampoo our hair weekly.

Black Hair Growth Products?

What are the best products for African American hair to grow quicker?

There is no secret formula or magic products. It’s all in genetics and maintenance. But you do have to find what “works” for your hair. The average person’s hair grows 1/2 inch a month. It may appear that people with straight hair grows faster but people with a curly hair shaft may appear with shorter hair. That’s just because the hair naturally draws up. Be nice to your hair, find what it and your scalp likes, and take good care of the ends to maintain length.
