A Good Forum Site For Black Women's Hair Care?

I recently joined a site dedicated to 360 Waves (360waves.net) and my girlfriend would like to join a similar site dedicated to black women’s hair care. (growth, styles, etc.)

I just adopted a baby girl. My wife and I are white. Her birth mom is white, but her birth dad is black. So this information is invaluable to me.

Ok so, my hair used to be at a length a little lower than my waist (pretty long). About a year ago, I went to an event run by the Canadian Cancer Society, where I cut my hair up to my jaw and donated it. Over time, I’ve dyed, thinned, styled, and done all sorts of things to my hair. It is now about an inch below my collar bone. However, I want it to be longer and have been waiting for it to grow for months. I was wondering if anyone knows of any hair growth products or tips that could help me out.
I am half black, half white, with soft curly hair. Know of anything that could help ? Thanks in advance :D

Well for one try using Mane N’ Tail Horse Shampoo. I use it all the
time and it makes your hair grow faster. I;d say massage it into
your scalp b/c thats going to help the roots if you just put it on
the ends, it not going to do anything to it. You can find it at
walmart in the pet section. also you should drink plenty of water
to condition your hair and when shampooing and conditioning you should
use cold or luke warm water on your hair so it won’t damage it.
Even hot water hurts your hair.
Btw if your looking for a cute hairstyle to try out without heat try these:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bte2ODopO…http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PH2nSJJeq…http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mw8Jx0uam…

You’re supposed to apply hair removal wax in the direction the hair growth is in, and pull against the direction of hair growth. I want to know how you can determine what the hair growth direction is.

The direction of hair growth is the direction pointing from the root to the tip. Pull it opposite of that direction.
So, for example, if the hair was like this:
root –> __________ <– tip
then you should pull off the wax to the left.

Frizz-be-Gone: Going from Fuzzed to Curled

<img src="http://www.buzzle.com/img/articleImages/171023-59.jpg" width="350" height="233" alt="Frizz-be-Gone: Going from Fuzzed to Curled" class="ImgBorder"

Those of us with naturally curly hair have dealt with the frizzies all our lives. It becomes a daily struggle to keep our hair tamed when we know it could potentially look beautifully curled like we’d spent a day at the beach. Unfortunately, humid weather and natural hair textures tend to work against us in this department.

But there is some good news! It IS possible to combat the elements of nature that work against us to have that perfect, model-like curly-wavy hair. Follow these tips to keep your hair from being fuzz-central:

Shampoo Sparingly

Shampoo dries out the hair. It’s recommended that those with hair that tends to frizz to shampoo only once or twice a week. This keeps the hair from drying out more than necessary.

Deep Condition

Use a strong, deep conditioner. Leave it on your head for five minutes in the shower every time you wash your hair. Another option is to lather conditioner on already wet hair, squeeze out excess moisture, and wrap a towel around your head. Let it set for an hour and when you rinse the conditioner out your hair will be beautifully moisturized and conditioned!

Products are your Friends

Using anti-frizz hair serums and creams can make a huge difference in your frizz-factor. Apply a serum after your shower, and if you start frizzing later in the day use a cream or pomade to bring your hair back down to earth.

Manual Labor

Don’t brush your hair during the day. Instead, use your fingers or even a wide-toothed comb. Separate the curls gently so that they stay in tact and don’t fly away. Your hair will turn out looking natural and oh-so-gorgeous!

Iron It

Use a curling iron or flat iron, depending on which style you’re aiming for, to keep your hair in place. First spray a strand with hair spray, comb it out, and then apply the iron. Follow up with more hairspray for a guaranteed hold.

Frizzy hair might be frustrating and it sure has caused a bad hair day or two but it doesn’t have to be the end of the world, either. Any style or texture of hair is manageable if you have the know-how. Apply these techniques to your hair styling regimen and watch your hair turn from blah to beautiful!

You’re hair would look best like a Caramel color with Dark brown highlights.My best friend is Vietnamese and that’s the way she has her hair.
To grow your hair faster use Mane and Tail Shampoo and conditioner.You can buy it at walmart for about 8.00It is made for horses but is used by people.It makes your hair grow very fast.
If your not comfortable trying horse shampoo then stop by your hair designers and ask him/her for their recommendations.
Also go to a salon instead of doing it your self.I go to Canvas Hair Design to get mine done.Normaly my hair is dark brown but now its caramel with black underlights.Salons make it look natural and it does less damage to your hair.I get mine done every month and it looks natural.
HOPE I HELPED,MERRY CHRIST MAS.

I am suffering from unwanted hair growth on my tummy, cleavage and around the nipples. How do I get rid of the unwanted hair in a less expensive and a very safe way?

unfortunately theres nt too much u can do but invest in a nice set of tweezers….

My hair falls out all the time, it’s not like I have bald spots or anything, but it’s just an overall loss of a LOT of hair. If you can’t picture it, just imagine that if I put a Bumpit in my hair, that you’d see most of it, and wouldn’t have the thickness or volume to hide it. I feel like I’m shedding more than 100 hairs a day or whatever, too. It’s extremely thin, and I just hide it with curls, but it’s acutally like … half the thickness of someone with regular thinning hair, lol. It’s thin, ya’ll. But, I hide it well and style it to make it look alright. I’m just tired of doing that. I want each individual strand of my hair to be thicker. And I damaged it with perming and braiding it. So now, my hair is actually a lot lighter naturally than it used to be. It used to be like black but now it’s reddish brown from just being thinner, I guess. It was not this thin naturally. It was a medium thickness and was somewhat textured. It was pretty good, before. It grew extremely long, then, too. So I know my hair isn’t just naturally this flat and thin. I did this to myself.
Should I use amla, henna and indigo (natural, not the ones w/ chemicals)? I read that that was really good.
But what else will help? Do any products actually thicken and regrow hair, or no? Nioxin? Is that real? Or any good? =) I need advice, I’m tired of doing my hair all the time.

as we know hair loss can be caused by many different reasons! There are many causes of loss of hair such as stress, poor nutrition ,medications, thyroid dysfunctions, illness, fungal infections ,hormonal problems, to mention a few.
year ago I suffered very much from dandruff and hair loss too and I started trying everything you can imagine to stop my hair loss.
the things that really worked for me was:
1) Vitamin A – an anti-oxidant which promotes healthy production of sebum in the scalp;
2) Vitamin E stimulates circulation. Good blood circulation in the scalp is important in keeping hair follicles productive. The ‘B’ vitamins contribute to melanin, which gives hair its healthy color and also stimulates blood circulation;
3) massage is also beneficial. Massage stimulates circulation. As already noted, good circulation in the scalp keeps hair follicles active. Experts suggest a few minutes of daily head massage by hand. Circulation through massage may be improved by using a few drops of lavender or bay essential oil in an almond or sesame oil base with massage;
4) Try rubbing your scalp with garlic juice, Onion Juice or Ginger Juice(you can either of one out of three, Do not mix any of two or three);
5) also he used herbal treatment – TrichoZed or Provillus (do not use Rogaine – it will not work!)
Those are a good products that helps prevent hair loss and contains Biotin and the clinically tested ingredients approved by the FDA to help re-grow your hair.! I think it is very important!
It worked and still works for me!
I do not know if any pharmacies carry TrichoZed but I do know that you should purchase it directly from the manufacturer and read more about the product herehttp://www.trichozed.info/ingredients.ph…
(TrichoZed™ will produce noticeable hair growth in 30 to 45 days. A consistent use of TrichoZed™ ensures permanent results within 6 months. Further use shall maintain optimal health of your hair.)
and here http://www.provilluss.info
(Provillus™ will produce noticeable hair growth in 40. A consistent use of TrichoZed™ ensures permanent results within ~5 months.)
It enhances hair growth by blocking DHT (Dihydrotestostrone) – a major cause of hair loss!
good luck!

How Does Diane 35 Work With Facial Hair?

Will it discontinue growth, will the hair fall out or is it too late? I’m 17. I did some research on PCOS for the last week and came to the conclusion of it not being likely. My period is like clockwork and i’ve had blood test done previously and there was nothing abnormal. I’ve always been hairy but lately it seems that the blonde hair is getting much darker, I can’t stand it, my mom says she doesnt see anything but im not crazy. I was looking up some pictures of women with hirsituism (sp) and i think they were all severe cases because mine isn’t extreme. It’s just more than other girls. Plus I have black hair so it’s not helping. Everywhere else on my body I can deal with but im not sure what to do with my face. Waxing is not a solution because my mother has some issues so i need something that will gradually get ris of the hair. IDK. Plus i dont want my face to be red and weird. Please help me.
Thanks in advance:)!!!!

Ask Your doctor for pills or creams that you can apply

im not losing my hair its just very short and i want to grow it out past my sholders and my hair is at my ears? plz help i heard there was a thing llk that i just cant remember the name…idk if it matters but im black

as long as you are 18 or older, then you can take prenatal vitimans, even though you arent pregnant, i know that also massaging your head can help…
hope i helped :)

I’m 19 years, woman, and have a HORRIBLE problem with excessive body hair. I hear some girls complain about how hairy they are…and I laugh. I once did not shave for 2 full weeks to prove to my friends how unsightly it is, and the second I pulled up my pant leg, I got gasps and even screams. One of my friend told me that my hair was hairier than their father’s and actually made him come in the room to see!! Lol, am I a freak show or what? (It was in good spirits, I found it funny too.)
My face is pretty bad, too. I have a thick black mustache which I wax in the morning, but by evening I already have prickly hairs growing back, enough to be VISIBLE. There are two patches on the side of my chin, one on each side…and they grow about 6-12 thick black hairs per day. I pluck once in the morning, and once in the evening…they grow THAT fast!!
I also have a really nasty happy trail (lol), and black hair on my chest.
I talked to my doctor and she was actually surprised to see how fast and thick my hair grew. I do not have PCOS, but she did diagnose me with just hirsutism. She gave me a prescription for Vaniqa, and when I got the bill for $80 for this small tube of cream, I nearly crapped myself. Ugh..has any one tried this and had any success? Once I stop using it, how fast will the hair re-appear?
Any other options out there? Like hormone pills??
Oh, and electric hair removal is out of the question. I live on a small, rural Alaskan island out in the middle of nowhere. We don’t have those kinds of services :P
But the other issue is…the hair on my head does NOT grow at all. I cut it chin-length when I was 13 and now it is only a little past my shoulders…that’s 6 years…I trim it once per year and especially within the last two years there has been absolutely NO growth, even fresh after my trims. What is UP?! (For this, I am flying into Anchorage, AK to get extensions done…costing about $1000!! Whoaa!)

Well, if you are flying out to get hair extensions I suggest you fly your way out to a doctor who can zap those hairs out with a laser removal. Trust me, it’s the best decision I have ever made. You’ll have to fly out a couple of times a year but your hair won’t grow back for months! Eventually it won’t grow at all! But that takes a few appointments.
